Broken / Knocked Out Teeth

We recognize that a knocked out tooth or bitten tongue can cause panic in any person, but quick thinking is the best way to approach such common dental emergencies and prevent additional unnecessary damage and costly dental restoration. This includes taking measures such as application of cold compresses to reduce swelling, and of course, contacting our office as soon as possible. A dental emergency can arise from the following types of instances:

  • Broken, cracked or chipped tooth
  • Broken bones in / around the mouth
  • Foreign object stuck between teeth, or in your gum
  • Hard bite of, or trauma to, the tongue
  • A severe toothache that could require extraction or a root canal

The biggest factor to consider when a dental emergency arises is that time is of the essence. You should always seek immediate attention so that we can attempt to correct the underlying problem before any more damage is done. Be prepared to answer some of the following questions that our dentists will ask you:

  • How long has the tooth hurt?
  • Rate the pain on a scale of 1 to 5
  • Are your teeth sensitive to hot/cold?
  • Are you taking any medications?
  • Have you had this type of pain/problem before?

We are here for you during your dental emergency. Contact us at 770-536-0581 for immediate assistance.
We will provide detailed instructions on how to alleviate pain, what to do if things get worse and how to find our office.
