Treatment for Mouth Ulcers

Mouth Ulcers are uncomfortable open lesions or sores in the mouth.  They can be caused by several issues ranging from canker sores to gingivostomatitis to fever blisters, but they all share the same discomfort of pain in your mouth.  Most mouth ulcers heal with time, however, if necessary we can provide treatment to relieve symptoms through a gentle cleaning, topical antihistamines, corticosteroids or antacids.

While most ulcers are harmless, some ulcers may develop into a bacterial infection, inflammation of the mouth or oral cancer if left untreated.  It is best to see your dentist if your mouth ulcer does not go away after three weeks.

Tips to prevent mouth ulcers:

  • Avoid spicy foods
  • Reduce stress in your life
